Chloe with Trade Triangle ship display On the 17th September, we went to Carlisle to meet with our friends in Creative Conversations again.  We practiced singing Poverty Poverty Knock and learned a new song to sing about working in the mines. The following day we all met at Whitehaven Library for our opening event at 1 o'clock.  Jac and Katie had set up two wonderful displays to show our fantastic work. We all sang our songs and got a loud round of applause!  We then had juice and biscuits and were able to talk to our friends and families about what we had produced for our exhibition. Well done everyone - all your hard work has paid off and your exhibition is just amazing!

Busy! Busy time! - 25th June, 2019

School is very busy as only a few weeks until the end of term.  We are working on all the pieces that will come together to form our banner.  Even time to print!...... We have our design and we have identified what we need to include that is unique to where we live and the history of  the textile industry 200 years ago.    Aneasha finished her textile drawing of Carlisle Basin, showing the Castle and chimneys in the distance - well done everyone.

Weaving families We shall be displaying our weaver sculptures in our exhibition and today we spent the afternoon drawing weaver people who will be part of that display. We reminded ourselves what life was like nearly two hundred years ago and drew facial expressions - some happy - some sad. We also discussed the design for our banner and laid the fabric on the floor and helped to start to draw out the design in pencil on the material.

Ship building! - 11th June, 2019

Today we worked with clay - some of us for the first time. Jac had rolled out some flat pieces of clay for us and then showed us how to put these together in order to make the base for our ships we shall be displaying in Whitehaven Library. It was rather difficult and not all of us made a ship but Jac had brought little clay stamps and we were able to use these to make patterns and repeat patterns in the clay.  There were alphabet stamps too!    Once the clay has totally dried, Jac told us that she will put them into a kiln following which we shall be able to paint these. We shall be painting fabric for the sails too.
